Geomorphology

Geomorphology is the study of the landscape, it analyze the processes that form landforms. Its name comes from greek. Geo means Earth, Morph means form and ology means the science of.

Difference between landscape and landform

Landscape means a group of numerous landforms. it is a mountainous terrain, and a landform is an individual feature, like a mountain or a valley.

Extragenic processes that form landscape

An extragenic process is when Earth’s surface changes because of an outer space impact. One example could be a meteor. When a meteor heats the Earth, it can produce different landforms and massive extinctions.

Endogenic processes that form landscape

An endogenic process is when the internal processes of Earth make a change on its surface. Some internal processes can be volcanism or tectonism.

Exogenic processes that form landscape

An exogenic process refers to the external forces of the planet that can make a change on Earth’s surface, some examples can be weathering and erosion.

Here you can see the different elevations that a canyon can have. But not only a canyon can have elevations, other landforms have a variety type of elevations. To know that, is the reason that we learn about Geomorphology.
